Israel eliminates a high-ranking Hamas figure, identified as a key planner of the October 7th assault

Israel’s military announced on Wednesday the identification of a Hamas financial official, Abdel Hay Zaqut, who was eliminated two weeks prior in a Gaza Strip operation. The Israeli army views Zaqut as instrumental in planning the October 7, 2023 Hamas offensive.
According to Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic spokesperson, Zaqut was killed on December 13 in the same strike that claimed the life of military leader Raed Saad.
Adraee stated on X that Zaqut was part of Hamas’s armed wing’s financial division and had been responsible for channeling tens of millions of dollars to the group over the past year to fund its conflict with Israel.
The strike, a joint effort by the Israeli army and the Shin Bet, reportedly found Zaqut traveling with Saad.
